Lyco loses 2nd in a row!!

Heather SuitWILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse team (0-2) fell to Montclair State by a score of 15-13 on a cold, rainy afternoon Saturday at Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Amanda Baker (Media, Pa.) led the Lady Warriors with three goals. Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, N.Y.), Heather Suit (Annapolis, Md.) and Kelly Mack (New Egypt, N.J.) each scored two goals for Lycoming.

Montclair drew first blood, but back-to-back goals by Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y.) and Suit gave the Lady Warriors an early 2-1 lead. Montclair regained the advantage with two quick goals, but Wallenhorst tied the game off of a Wingerden assist at 17:52 in the first half.

Danielle GargiuloMontclair reeled off four straight goals before Lycoming sophomore Megan McIntyre (Baltimore, Md.) scored to make the tally 7-3 with 11:53 left in the half. The Lady Red Hawks found the net two more times before Wallenhorst converted a free-position shot, starting four consecutive Lady Warriors goals which made the score 9-8 in favor of Montclair State at halftime.

Lycoming sophomore Christi Karr (Lansdale, Pa.) found the net off of a McIntyre feed to tie the game early in the second period. But four straight Lady Red Hawk goals put Montclair up for good.

The Lady Warriors never gave up, with Baker scoring at 12:16 and Mack converting twice in the final eight minutes. Sophomore Justine Titko (Wrightstown, N.J.) made it a one-point contest with 24 seconds remaining, but Montclair scored 11 seconds later to put the game on ice.

Lycoming travels to Eastern on Wednesday, March 12 for a 4:30 face-off.
